Keeping Pace, founded in 2006, is a summer program at Pace Academy serving underprivileged students from communities across Metro Atlanta. The typical Keeping Pace Scholar is a student "caught in the middle" —not required to attend summer school for remediation, but not a likely candidate for other prestigious metro summer programs for underserved youth. Keeping Pace does not charge an application fee to attend; its only requirement is that Scholars have the ability to attend and the motivation to participate.

Each summer, the program offers Scholars four weeks of academic enrichment, along with swimming, tennis instruction, gardening & cooking demonstrations, and interactive art workshops. Scholars also receive bus transportation to and from camp, meals and snacks, and all supplies needed for coursework. Pace Academy faculty members staff the program, and Pace Upper School students serve as counselors and tutors.

As the Keeping Pace program returned to campus following the virtual summer of 2020, we have seen, like many schools, attrition in attendance and families displaced to areas outside of Metro Atlanta. To continue to meet the needs of Scholars in need, Keeping Pace has partnered with La Amistad to host students enrolled in their after-school tutoring programs on campus for a month of education and enrichment. With La Amistad staff leading morning academic instruction, Keeping Pace staff guiding afternoon recreation, and Pace Upper School students serving as volunteer counselors, the program is opening the next chapter in providing high-quality, no-cost programming for students across Atlanta.
